Lydia Susi and Daniel Joseph’s story continues in the Lair of the Wolven series from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward.
For Lydia Susi, there is no sweet sorrow in saying goodbye to the man she loves. As a wolven hiding among humans, she’s used to being alone—until destiny gives her the kind of love she never dared to dream about. But after a sudden devastating diagnosis, grief is the only thing she sees in her future.
As an operative for a clandestine arm of the United States government, Daniel Joseph always expected to die an early death. He just assumed it would be out in the field—not in a laboratory hospital bed. With his time running out, he refuses a potentially lifesaving treatment to focus on making sure that Lydia finds her wolven clan.
Following an attack on the lab’s compound, Daniel fears his former boss is coming after the two of them. Marshaling his strength, he must call on all of his training to protect his love…even if it means her moving on without him.

Another great story
All is not as expected as we return to life with Lidia and Daniel. This story was heartbreaking in both good and bad ways. I enjoyed the reconnection of the characters and how they dealt with real issues with regards to Daniel’s disease.
The story had a lot of twists and it kept me going until the end. I find myself sad for Blade and hoping that somehow he gets a happily ever after.
Left us hanging
I’m disappointed with this book. Redundancy chapter after chapter then we finally get some action and the book stops….. This particular BDB spin off is missing the JR Ward style this reader has come to expect. Can’t wait for Lassiter though.
Ended?
Honestly thought I ordered a defective book where they didn’t send me the entire book. It just seem to end with absolutely no answers to anything. Very slow and depressing throughout, and I kept thinking “Okay, something is going to happen soon”. Nope. The End.
J.R. Ward is my all time favorite author… but this was just aggravating to be read, to be honest. My advice to everyone is don’t even bother getting this book now… wait until the next one is out and get both at the same time.
Unless I really did only get a half a book??? But book ended digitally at around 150 pages and then went into a preview of Lassiter. Idk. Disappointing.
