Publisher Description
This story about the four Brothers Karamazov and their visits during the all-night wake of the dead Elder Zosima, is my retelling of a powerful chapter in Dostoyevsky’s novel. It is a commentary on Jesus’ Parable of the Sower, and challenges us to think about why Jesus preferred teaching through storytelling rather than lecturing. Dostoyevsky artfully recasts the Miracle of Cana in this chapter of his novel to further challenge us to find our spiritual attitudes mirrored in the characters of the four brothers. Are we like Smerdyakov, Mitya, Ivan, or Alyosha?
