Publisher Description
Eloisa James returns with another fabulous romance in her New York Times bestselling Desperate Duchesses series!
As a young girl, Emilia Gwendolyn Carrington told the annoying future Duke of Pindar that she would marry any man in the world before him—so years later she is horrified to realize that she has nowhere else to turn.
Evander Septimus Brody has his own reasons for agreeing to Mia's audacious proposal, but there's one thing he won't give his inconvenient wife: himself.
Instead, he offers Mia a devil's bargain . . . he will spend four nights a year with her. Four nights, and nothing more. And those only when she begs for them.
Which Mia will never do.
Now Vander faces the most crucial challenge of his life: he must seduce his own wife in order to win her heart—and no matter what it takes, this is the one battle he can't afford to lose.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
With its exceptionally clever plot and amazing female protagonist, Eloisa James’ new historical romance strengthens her position as one of our favorite authors of light fiction. Four Nights with the Duke is the story of Mia Carrington, an unmarried twentysomething who makes a great living in her secret life as a novelist. Desperate to take custody of her vulnerable nephew, Mia hatches a plan to marry Duke Vander Brody—an aloof acquaintance who, years before, rebuffed her teenage crush. We loved every second of this mesmerizing tale, which effortlessly blends modern sensibilities with old-fashioned intrigue and charm.

Fave Elodia James Book Yet
I’ve read over 6 of her books and this is my favorite one
Enjoyable but a little hard for me
This is my first book by Ms James, so it may be that I need to get used to her style. I enjoyed FNWTD, but Vander’s arrogance and crudeness almost made me throw in the towel by chapter 23 or 24. I know he responds to fear with anger and cruelness but it really felt like, even in his own thoughts, he saw Mia as nothing more than her body. His lust felt unhealthy and it seemed like he kissed her more often to shut her up than bc he “gave up” on the argument. I’m happy with how it all turned out, but I wish we’d seen more of the gradual improvement in Vander’s behavior rather than some small details and then a grand gesture. Nonetheless, I’ll still be giving more of Ms James’ works a read!
Wonderful
