My name is Ashley Ellis…

I was thirteen years old when my mother – retired supermodel, Tig – married Mosier Răumann, who was twice her age and the head of the Răumann crime family.

When I turned eighteen, my mother mysteriously died. Only then did I discover the dark plans my stepfather had in store for me all along; the debauched "work" he expected me to do.

With the help of my godfather, Gus, I have escaped from Mosier's clutches, but his twin sons and henchmen have been tasked with hunting me down. And they will stop at nothing to return my virgin body to their father

…dead or alive.

Review: A Modern Fairytale 7: Fragments of Ash

Fragments of Ash by Katy Regnery is the seventh standalone contemporary romance novel in her Modern Fairytale series. A chilling adaptation of the story of Cinderella that is well-written and well-paced slowly dishing out a secret here and there until finally the story comes together for the reader and for the characters involved.

Ashley's mom was a teen mom who hit it big in the modeling world. At some point the world was made to believe that Ashley was the younger sister of Tig, NOT her daughter. This deception continued beyond the death of Ashley's mother and the subsequent advances of her step-father - who believed Ashley to be his sister-in-law. Regardless, the step-father, Mosier, is a dirty, bad man and Ashley manages to escape his clutches and run to the only friend she has left in the world.

Julian is comfortable with his peaceful life at the rural farmhouse he is renting from Gus and Jock. He is making his glassware, minding his own business until they inform him they are letting their friend stay there. It is explicit in his lease that they can, at any time, let out the second floor of the home but he never expected such an invasion of privacy. When he lays eyes on the beauty that will be sleeping under the same roof as him, he is even more infuriated as he feels an instant attraction towards her and is annoyed by his inability to control his physical attraction.

Ahley's future hangs in the balance and it is up to those closest to her, her forced roommate Julian with the dreamy eyes and her godfather Gus and his Prince Charming, Jock. Will they be enough to keep her evil step-father and his twin sons / henchmen at bay? Enjoy!

Fragments of Ash

This book truly kept me on the edge of my seat just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Katy Regnery has written a most compelling story. It is both subtle and intense. Ashley is truly a complex character as seen through her innocence as well as her exposure early in life to adult situations. The fear was palpable when reading this story. The characters that helped Ashley were colorful and unique. Another MUST READ from Ms Regnery.
