Frank Benson

Frank Benson became known as the American Impressionist, one of the last great American Impressionist. He mastered many mediums and subjects, and from his early works right until the very end, light is what he was interested in. Benson died in his home in Salem, Massa­chusetts on November 4, 1951. To date, the highest price brought at auction for an oil painting by Benson is $4.1 million in 1995.
