Publisher Description
The first book in Randy L. Scott's gripping, psychological suspense Dream Messiah series.
Jake Barnes thought he could leave his troubles behind, chasing freedom in the rugged wilderness of Alaska. But life has other plans. An unplanned pregnancy ties him to a world he wanted to escape, while otherworldly dreams pull him into a prophecy of a tribal messiah from a distant realm.
As Jake struggles to balance the weight of impending fatherhood with the relentless visions that invade his mind, the barrier between reality and dream begins to shatter. Forces he cannot understand—or control—push him toward a destiny he doesn't understand. Is he meant to be a savior, a pawn in an unfathomable game, or simply losing his sanity?
Pushed by shadowy allies, Jake's journey is one of peril, self-discovery, and spiritual reckoning. Every step forward takes him deeper into a mystery where the price of freedom may be his very soul.
Dark, suspenseful, and thought-provoking, Freedom launches the Dream Messiah series with a visceral exploration of prophecy, identity, and choice. Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers steeped in the supernatural, this is a story that lingers long after the final page.

-The dark side of Alaska
This isn’t a feel-good book, but it is a great story. The Alaskan setting is fanstastic and you really get to know the characters, but you won’t like all of them. There is lots of conflicts and bad choices made by the main character, Jake Barnes. He needs to hit the bottom before he can get on with his life. And boy does he. This is a journey that Jake is picked for, but questions his sanity. This book does not end on a happy note. But I know the story goes on for another two books, so I can’t stop with this one.
There are also strong and wonderful characters, Dave and Ann in particular, and a grizzly bear named Yellow Ears. I learned a lot about living in the Alaskan wilderness and the crazy hardships. He paints very vivid descriptions.
