Publisher Description
I have researched Editorial Design and how the way that we read and interact with 'the page' is changing by looking at Interactive Digital Design, Print Based Augmented Reality and new hybrid print/digital book forms. Augmented Reality (AR) is a cutting-edge technology that adds a layer of digital information (image, video, sound, interactive button) to a real world environment or object such as a printed book, which is interacted with via a digital screen, such as a smartphone or tablet. Drawing from media theorists such as Marshal McLuhan (1967), I explore how we interact with the book and printed page, how it has changed historically since before the Gutenberg era and how it is being transformed in the present digital era and beyond.
