This book was created as the result of research that revealed a gap between anticipated outcomes and experiential realities for Chinese students coming to the US for graduate school. The book offers guidance for students as they prepare to come to the US and once they arrive and enter the US classroom and culture. Jiao Shi to Classroom includes exercises, insights, and ideas for making the transition from China to the US easier and more satisfying for graduate students in all fields.
Bridget Fletcher currently serves as the Assistant Director or Student Services for Professional Master's Programs at the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. In this capacity, she works with Chinese students on a daily basis as an advisor, English instructor, workshop facilitator, and general problem solver.
