A disappointing final volume
The first half is roughly on a par with the other books in the series. But the rest feels rushed and unpolished. It feels like the series was ended prematurely, either due to editorial/marketing decisions, or maybe the author just ran out of steam. A perfectly good political plot setup in the first half gets handwaved away later, and the overarching world building questions get answered in what amounts to an infodump at the end. Worth reading if you’ve enjoyed the earlier books, but it’s likely to to feel a bit unsatisfying.
