Good
I enjoyed the first book (though I have trouble calling a short excerpt a book...). There wasn't much room for character development in such a short amount of time, so I feel like the angst and conflict each of the main characters felt wasn't as potent as it could have been.
I would like to know more about Rocky's relationship with Joe - why it's so tenuous and more about what Rocky had done to push her family away. And did she have any friends at all? What about Link?
Like I said, not much room for development, but we have only a few characters, none of whom are round... Livie, Augie, Link, Rocky, Joe and the four guys and the cop... we know of parents... but there's just not much going on... yet. (And Lea. Forgot her.)
Not many physical descriptors either... but I think that can be a good thing. We know Rocky and Livie both have black hair. At least that's the most memorable description.
