Getting to Know You

There's a first time for everything. First time away from home. First
college party. First kiss.

It's 1975, and Mark Jenson arrives on a small liberal arts campus with a
manual Royal typewriter, no car, and no idea who he's supposed to become. On
his third day there, he chases down a nervous blonde named Jean after
breakfast, and he can't stop thinking about her.

What starts as walks around campus and Ping-Pong games in the dorm slowly
grows into something neither of them has felt before. Between classes,
internships, and part-time jobs, they write letters in cursive, sealed with a
kiss, and wait their turn at the pay phone at the end of the hall. But doubt,
jealousy, and the pressure of building a future keep pulling at them. Can a
love this young really last?

Getting to Know You: Discovering First Love in the Seventies
is told through Mark's eyes and Jean's private journal entries. It is a tender,
nostalgic story of two young people figuring out who they are and who they
