Ghosts Excluded

He sees the dead. He doesn't believe in them. One of them won't stop following him anyway.

Rowan Delacroix paints moody lighthouses, feeds a three-legged cat named Gerald, and quietly helps ghosts finish their business. Disowned at fifteen and nearly locked away, he built a life on kindness, cardigans, and a smile so bright nobody asks what's underneath.

Then a girl named Camille appears in his studio at 3 a.m., begging him to save the eleven people still being held by a trafficking ring. To help her, Rowan has to walk into the FBI and say the six words he swore never to say again.

A ghost told me.

Special Agent Toby Grant doesn't believe in ghosts, luck, or the phrase "gut feeling." He believes in chain of custody and laminated checklists. He's spent eighteen months grieving his partner, refusing a new one, and buying terrible coffee out of spite.

He also doesn't know that his dead partner is standing right behind him, mocking his tie.

Between Rowan's charcoal-drawn visions, Toby's colossal suspicion, two ghosts who flirt through their very tired translator, and a billionaire grandfather who sets a place at the table for every dead guest, the case starts to unravel something much bigger. Something that links Camille's story to the night Toby's partner died. Something someone inside the Bureau has been working hard to keep buried.
