‘Before Gilgarius came, when I was a young boy, we had year upon year of drought and many of us went hungry.’

‘Gilgarius?’

‘Yes,’ said Han. ‘Everything changed after that. If you care to sit with me awhile, I can tell you about it.’

A lone traveller makes an arduous journey to a remote land where he finds Han, an old man with a momentous story to tell.

As a boy, Han is lauded as a hero by his people after outwitting a giant child-eating creature called Gilgarius. Recognising his remarkable gift, the community elders send him to secure peace with hostile neighbours…

Thus begins an epic journey to defeat evil, both in the guise of the monstrous Gilgarius and in the hearts of men…

But has the traveller a story of his own to tell? And is he hiding his true motive for seeking out Han?
