Disappointed
This story was a good idea, but needs a lot work. A woman of color as the main heroine in a story, a paranormal story at that, is what grabbed my attention to read this story. The grammatical errors I found, were a bit annoying, and were my first turn off. One can get past it, but the storyline was inconsistent, and left questions. Britanee was angry with her father’s betrayal, what betrayal? But in the same breath, it was her birthright? Then there wouldn’t have been any betrayal because Britanee would have had the foreknowledge that this was going to take place at some point. What was the significance of the particular stones in the necklace? Were they her pack’s colors? And who were Christine, Jesse, and Jack, in relation to Nate, and why were they in his house when he came home with Britanee? Jack’s character never speaks during the entirety of the book, so what was the purpose of his character? These were just some examples. I came away feeling that this story was very much lacking. It could have gone a little deeper without sacrificing the length of the book and offered the reader some substance and hungry for another of the author’s books. Sadly, I must continue in my pursuit for another paranormal author with WOC in the driver’s seat! So disappointed in this one.
