Publisher Description

What happens when you mix ancient Egyptian art, Medieval illumination, metalsmithing, digital animation, and jazz? A musical, illuminated manuscript in motion. Giving Voice is a multi-touch art book about the connections we form and how they can dramatically change our paths. The narrative traces the story of how the childhood gift of a board game came to ignite the author’s passion for ancient Egypt and send her on a truly different life journey as an artist. The book’s unique and original artwork encompasses mixed media and gilded paintings, hand lettered calligraphy, and an Eastern repousse metal cover. In this multi-touch version, the artwork comes alive with vibrant animation set to rhythmic jazz piano. The painstakingly hand-lettered pages expand in exceptional detail, and the texts are read by the author to create a truly one-of-a-kind experiential book.

“In an age of clamoring haste and three-second sound bites, Giving Voice arrives like the fall of cool rain in the desert…a sweet and gentle relief. It’s a book of elegant proportion, slow sweeping movement and beautiful composition…” - from the introduction by multi-best-selling author and artist, Nick Bantock

Remarkable Work

I love it. This remarkable, inspiring and unique book is a magical journey unlike any other and is beautifully done. Rich colors and patterns metamorphise into stunnning images created by reknown artist Victoria Lansford. Her words dance and flow across the pages filled with insightful thoughts and expressions. The music is contemplative, sophistocated and lovely. I would highly recommend this book as a gift to others or for one’s self.

Amazing

This is what ‘multimedia’ is supposed to be! Visual art, music, and spoken word brought together in a complementary manner. Whether you're checking out a few pages to get a quick pick-me-up of pen, ink, and piano, or parking yourself in one spot to lose yourself in the gestalt, or doing something in between, you’ll find something new inside to keep coming back to.
