Publisher Description

A comprehensive guidebook to extend your knowledge, promote adventure and discovery while traveling one of the most scenic highways in the world—the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

Tom Berquist, a local author, designed this book as a planning guide and in-car resource. Interactive maps and beautiful photographs make it a joy to use.

It begins with a brief geologic history which adds another dimension to your experience of the majestic landscape while climbing up and over the Continental Divide.

The chapter on Wildlife Precautions provides necessary safety tips for out-of-vehicle adventures.

Chapters include mileages from the West Entrance and East Entrance to interesting locations along the route. In these pages, you will also find details about hiking and other recreation opportunities, like: biking, boating, horseback riding, boat and bus tours, and picnic spots.

There are sections on where to find lodging, camping sites, camp stores, and restaurants.

Those who would rather just take it all in without worrying about negotiating the narrow and winding road will want to check out the chapter on Alternatives to Driving.

Glacier National Park: Going-to-the-Sun Road, A Traveler’s Guide is a practical resource to help you get the most from your time spent on this engineering masterpiece built across the heart of the park.
