Global Decision System

Just about everyone has a Global Decision System chip in their head, telling them what to do in any situation. But what if the GDS doesn't operate in people's best interests?

Detective Aromdee has mixed feelings about the Global Decision System chip in his head. Everyone had one, and there was no denying it was useful, telling him what to do in every situation. How could he do his job without it? Still, he thought fondly of a past when people made their own decisions. When a rare disconnect—someone with no GDS—is found murdered and the suspect is another disconnect, Aromdee decides he needs to think like the killer, and he disables his chip. He discovers GDS has its own agenda and is dangerous, but how can he convince a dependent populace to turn it off?
