Publisher Description
Go Sit On Your Own Stoop! is a collection of hilarious, brutally honest and thought-provoking anecdotes that vividly recapture the omnipresent energy, hair-trigger danger and genuine uniqueness of one man's childhood in Brooklyn, NY, during the seventies and eighties.
Author John Khoury transports you to a time when Brooklyn was defined by working class laborers, rampant crime, dirty streets and an inextinguishable character and spirit that was known around the world.
Go Sit On Your Own Stoop! is a unique memoir that explores the days before outdoor cafes; family playgrounds and wine bars; when your mother didn't know or care where you were until dinnertime; when fire hydrants were used for cooling off on the hottest summer days; and when neighborhood brownstones were filled with three generations of family.
Go Sit on Your Own Stoop! beautifully recalls the shared experiences at the heart of our youth and childhood through the prism of Brooklyn, while captivating you on every page!

Outstanding!
You didn't have to grow up in Brooklyn - but grew up in the 70s & 80s - for the stories John tells to capture perfectly a feeling (and mindset) anyone from the New York area can relate to.
This book reads as if you were having a beer at the local bar with the author. His pictures paint the struggles of a city facing decay and mired in crime; and how all of this swirled around him, his friends and family while still experiencing the sort of growing pains and wonderful discoveries necessary to shape anyone into becoming an adult.
A must read.
