Publisher Description
Even though her life has its ups and downs, Annette Goode Davis feels lucky. Most of all, she's grateful that her husband, Pee Wee, took her back after he discovered she was having an affair. The trouble is, Annette isn't sure his heart is really in it. Her best friend Rhoda is quick to point out that Annette got herself into this mess, so she has to be patient with Pee Wee. But Annette's suspicions are confirmed when Pee Wee moves out--and in with his new lady.
Devastated, Annette won't let her family go without a fight, but she also knows she must prepare for the worst. Because one lesson she's learned all too well is that when life kicks you in the teeth, you have to come out swinging.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Monroe tacks on another witty and wise installment to her God series (God Ain't Blind; etc.), picking up after Annette Davis's disastrous affair with a con man. This time out, Annette's long-suffering perfect husband, Pee Wee, turns the tables and dumps Annette for his barbershop's manicurist, Lizzie Stovall. Annette feels especially betrayed because she'd helped Lizzie, a former classmate, get that job. But life must go on, and after Lizzie and Pee Wee move in together, Annette embarks on a questionable affair with an old flame and worries about her 11-year-old daughter, who's growing up way too fast. Also making waves is Jade Marie, whose marriage to milquetoast LaVerne takes a shocking turn. If this raunchy and rambunctious book is any indication, Monroe's series has a lot of life left in it.

Kept me interested but yearning for?
I absolutely adore Mary Monroe and her writing style is truly intriguing. I picked this up due to my love for her previous book “Gonna Lay Down My Burdens” but this one fell short in comparison. It was funny, heartbreaking, yet all over the place …The ending left me on a ferris wheel of confusion and waiting to exhale or maybe just a better written ending..3/5!
