An excerpt from the story:

I was so drunk that I don't even remember how the topic came up, but the conversation eventually turned towards relationships. He told me that he had just broken up with a guy that he had been dating back home, and it took me longer than it should have to realize that he had said "guy" and not "girl".

"Wait, wait," I drunkenly mumbled. "You're gay?"

That was a shock to me. The only gay person I had ever known was a flamboyantly effeminate guy at my high school, and I guess that had become the stereotype that I unintentionally assigned to all gay men.

"No, no," Todd said, "I'm bi", as casually as if he was telling me what he had eaten for dinner. "But you're gay, right?"

"No!" I said, much too defensively. "I like girls!"

"Chill out, man, it's no big deal. I just assumed from the way you've been checking me out all night that you're into guys."

I was stunned into silence. Had I been that obvious? I wasn't sure whether I should deny it or embrace it, so instead, I said nothing.

"Really, it's not a big deal," Todd assured me once more. "You're really cute, and if you were interested, I'd totally be into it. If not, then so what, right?"

"Okay," was all I could muster. Todd took my empty plastic cup and refilled our beers, and while I tried to recover my composure, I was overcome with a sense of absolute trust for this guy that I had known for all of four hours.

"Actually," I said once he'd returned with our beers, "I might not be completely straight."

"Have you ever done anything with another guy?"

"No way!"

"Because you weren't interested, or because you were too scared to try?"

"I never really gave it that much thought. I guess I've never really had the opportunity."

"Well, if I wasn't so wasted right now, I'd bend you over that chair and show you the night of your life!"
