Odd artifact of the immediate post-wwi period, but not very good
As with all of this author’s poetry I’ve read to date, there’s an assumption - not true then, especially, in the time of Ingersoll- that his audience, no, his country is all Christian. Additionally he asserts jingoistically that the enemy (the Germans- the other Central Powers are not mentioned) are still following the Norse Gods and are heathens, making WWI a religious war - which briefly it wasn’t…
There’s some joy to be had, enough for 3/5.
