Publisher Description
Margaret Mitchell's epic novel of love and war won the Pulitzer Prize and one of the most popular and celebrated movies of all time.
Many novels have been written about the Civil War and its aftermath. None take us into the burning fields and cities of the American South as Gone With the Wind does, creating haunting scenes and thrilling portraits of characters so vivid that we remember their words and feel their fear and hunger for the rest of our lives.
In the two main characters, the white-shouldered, irresistible Scarlett and the flashy, contemptuous Rhett, Margaret Mitchell not only conveyed a timeless story of survival under the harshest of circumstances, she also created two of the most famous lovers in the English-speaking world since Romeo and Juliet.

Amazing
Just amazing I’m speechless.
Must read
I bought the book with no idea how much it would affect me. It was worth every minute I spent reading it. Brilliant author. Incredible book.
Excellent book, decent format
The book is 5 stars—incredible story, beautifully told. Margaret Mitchell has a way of immersing the reader in her characters’ world, and it doubled as a history lesson, as well. I found myself doing extra-curricular research on battles and commanders and all sorts of other Civil War era facts as she shared about that time from a Southerner’s viewpoint.
It is not a “politically correct” story, but one cannot expect it to be given the timeframe it covers. Moreover, it is told from the point of view of aristocratic Southerners, so there is deep sympathy and justification for several cringe-worthy ideals. The colored characters are also higher caste, so they have well-developed opinions about lower caste slaves and freedmen. If it is read it for what it is and the story is given the freedom to express itself at a turning point in history, then it is easy to appreciate this tale for not only the storytelling, but also its historical value.
The format of this ebook rated 4 stars. There are multiple typos throughout. They seem to become more plentiful toward the end, almost as though the transcription of the text were rushed. It made me wonder if there were other careless errors, such as omissions, but even if there were, there were no glaring holes in the story. Overall it was easy to overlook, considering I only paid a little over a dollar after tax. Definitely worth it to read this amazing love story again. It will forever be in my heart as much a love story between Scarlett and Melanie as it is between Scarlett and Rhett.
