Good Angels

In the sunlit, moneyed world of Santa Barbara, Ornella is thirty, beautiful, and broke. Jack Norton is seventy-eight, charming, and very rich. Their marriage is a bargain they both understand.

Then she meets Andy — a forger who can copy any master alive but has nothing of his own inside him — and the two of them decide that Jack, who has been lucky his whole long life, has been lucky quite long enough.

But luck like Jack's does not give way easily. And out past the harbor, at the far edge of the Channel Islands, there is a wild and beautiful island where the weather turns without warning, and the sea keeps no ledger of anything, and waits.

A glittering, pitch-black comedy about age and beauty, money and mortality, and the terrible patience of the sea.
