Korean Cinderella Rom-Com
A modern rom-com twist on the historical romance genre and Rich Boy/Poor Girl trope. The art is beautiful and only improves as the series progresses. I loved all the author’s speculative depictions of modern Korean royalty!
The main draw of Goong is its setting. The plot twists and characterizations can get a little repetitive in later volumes because the overarching plot often takes a backseat to episodic cliffhangers and hijinks. This isn’t necessarily good or bad, it just depends on your preferences.
This series was eventually adapted into a k-drama TV series (“Princess Hours”). If you’ve seen the show, the manhwa is still worth reading. The show made plot changes and has an entirely different ending.
