When Widget sees an ancient tower on the old map, she is determined to find it. Together with the dogs, Hanna and Frizzy, she tracks it down, through the brambles and woods. Once she finds the Wishing Tower, it becomes her secret place, a place where she knows that all wishes will be granted – trouble at school and at home can be resolved. But when Mum falls ill, Widget is afraid. She goes to the Tower to wish for Dad to return from sea, but there’s someone else there…
