Granada and the Alhambra

The Alhambra in Granada, Spain was originally built as a citadel, or fortress, in the ninth century and was later converted into a royal palace by the Muslim rulers of Spain. Even with subsequent additions, such as the Palace of Charles V, which was built into the complex in the 16th century, the Alhambra remains one of the best preserved and restored examples of Islamic architecture in Spain. This volume includes numerous photographs and a history of the complex, as well as the surrounding city of Granada.
