Family is one of the cores themes of Green Affections, since the individual finds their identity only through belonging to it.


Green Affections is a childhood story with a particular gender perspective, for the narrator is a girl, Sonia Amalia, called Amazonia. When narrating, the girl recreates the story making it into fiction, since memory is not only what we remember but what we believe we remember. Her own life is the material from where she builds the novel. Her senses refresh everything surrounding her: the vivid color of the jungle, its own humid aromas, the softness of the water, the life song of the town and its surroundings and, above all, the food that nourishes Amazonia’s days.
