Grind: Cal and Macy's Story Book 2

Although Cal is totally sexy, with a rockin' body, he knows what he wants in bed and out of it, but he's just not as "alpha" as I expect him to be. He needs to be a little bit...more. His relationship with Macy is sex only and he wants more. He wants a monogamous dating relationship. Being monogamous is pushing it for Macy. Her life is full of one night stands only. She can do monogamous but she doesn't date. Her issues make her think she doesn't deserve or isn't worthy of that kind of relationship but the closer she gets with Cal, the more she wants to give it a try. Awesome cliffhanger ending! I'm waiting on pins and needles to find out exactly what is in Macy's past that has affected her entire life so harshly. Can't wait for book three!

Grind is the continuation of Cal and Macy's story. It picks up right where Clash ends. Cal, as a favor to Mac, he represents Macy in a Alienation of Affection lawsuit, once that is completed, they pick up sex-only relationship. But as things progress, Cal tries to "nudge" Macy into a more normal relationship. When they make a deal with each other, BOTH are pushed out of their comfort zones. Throw in Macy's apparently very dysfunctional family, and things could go south very quickly.

Like Clash, Grind is written almost entirely from Cal's point of view. It's interesting that the only glimpses we get into what Macy thinks or feels are the little peeks into her diary. Of course, you also have what Cal observes as he tries to figure out what makes her tick.

Being that this is the second book of three, I'm thrilled the last one is just a couple of weeks away, because this will certainly leave you hanging.

And here we go again....Oh Sawyer, what are you doing to us?

Grind starts right where Clash left us, Cal is helping Macy with the lawsuit she was served with and they go to Utah to confront the people that are suing her. Cal doesn't want to mix business with pleasure so he wants to close the case before he finds himself in bed with Macy again doing what they do best.

Little by little we start seeing how close these two are getting and how Macy's walls start slowly crumbling down thanks to the support and strong presence that Cal is providing. Things start moving from an all sexual vibe to emotional territory, something that even though she doesn't say out loud, Macy needs desperately.

We see more of Macy's life through her diary entries and some of them are heartbreaking to read. It's incredible how someone who has been through some of the stuff she describes and the hints she gives can remain strong (at least on the outside.)

Cal is, well, sex on a stick. He's self assured, dominant in the bedroom and the courtroom, and caring, all in one delicious package. He knows he's walking on eggshells with Macy but he keeps going forward and showing her that one way or another he's there for the long run.

I was very pleased, turned on, and thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the swingers club. I loved how boundaries were pushed and how they were able to come to terms with their differences afterwards.

Sawyer leave us with another cliffy, but again it's only two weeks until the next one so not too long to wait for the reveal of all of Macy's secrets. Just two short weeks to see if the relationship between Macy and Cal is going to survive her secrets, insecurities, and fulfill her life with all the love she's been missing all these years.

Sawyer has the ability to take her readers to a deeper dimension and make them feel her characters all the way to their souls, Macy is a prime example of this. Her writing style is flawless, she's one of those authors that thinks outside the box and never disappoints.
