What makes us human?

I've always been curious about Scientology. It makes a lot of press and seems to be popular among the Hollywood elite. This review encapsulates the message of Leah Remini's memoir. Her experience joining and eventually leaving the church of Scientology is fascinating and personal, but most importantly relateable. I think in some way all of us have struggled with our faith in something (be it our religion, our school, our friends, or our career), and this disillusionment makes us human.

Summary!

In her own words, she tells of being subjected to an abusive father, who deserted the family; a loving, but distant mother; and her experiences with the Church of Scientology as a way of overcoming her feelings of low self-esteem.Instaread’s Summary & Analysis of Troublemaker by Leah Remini provides an in-depth review of Remini’s journey of self-discovery as she comes to have doubts about the sincerity of Scientology and learns to trust her own feelings, even when it meant estrangement from the only organization that had, to that time, provided her with an anchor in life, and how having friends who stuck with her in the face of strong objections from Scientology leaders helped her find her way.

I like her character!

I really like how Leah Remini is not afraid to speak up and tell her story, which is what this book is about, it's her personal memoir of her life in the church of Scientology. She is open and honest in this book which shows you how nonreligious this "religion" is and how it's more a cult than anything.
