Publisher Description
In this hilarious adventure for elementary school readers, a team of lovable, fuzzy guinea pigs gets online to solve their mysteries.
Fuzzy the guinea pig is a great friend to have--he's always cheerful, he cooks like a pro (his specialty is ketchup and dish soap), and he loves to surf the web. Fuzzy's stylish hutch-mate Coco is his best friend, though even she can't understand his fascination with computers.
When Fuzzy goes missing, though, Coco is forced to get online for answers. On the social site Micespace she learns that her friend could be in terrible danger, so Coco assembles an extraction team to get him back: Terry, a technology whiz whose computer skills are second to none; Banoffee, a mother of fourteen with the organizational and motivational powers to match; and Eduardo, the heroic (and very handsome) Peruvian freedom fighter. Will Coco and her guinea pig commandos find a way to rescue Fuzzy and get back home alive?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This series launch stars two irresistible guinea pigs friends who share a cage but don't always "see eye to eye, or even whisker to whisker." Go-getter Fuzzy is an aspiring chef, but his attempt to cook for his owners (egg, ketchup, garlic, and dishwashing soap in a blender) backfires comically. Meanwhile, Coco laments the loss of her former harp-playing, queen-hobnobbing life ("One does miss Buckingham Palace"). Fuzzy disappears after reading a newspaper ad announcing that a new London restaurant is looking for guinea pigs. When Coco discovers (via Fuzzy's "Micespace" page) that other guinea pigs have also gone missing and that the eatery is serving "groundbreaking" fare, she's determined to rescue her friend before he lands on the menu. Adding to the mayhem is a Peruvian guinea pig "freedom fighter" who joins Coco's mission, which Gray and Swift bring to a rowdy close. A generous smattering of pictures Horne's (You Get What You Get) hilarious halftones carry a whiff of Quentin Blake and a large font help make this a very accessible read. Ages 5 8.
