Publisher Description

As preparation for one of Hell's regional war games, Sunesis, a demon instructor, provides harsh lessons and surreal motivation to a group of dead people.

Toby, an ex special-forces soldier. Michi, an overindulged college student. Jesse, a director of business development. Kirsten, a stay-at-home mother of five. Palani, a semi-pro mixed martial artist. Elena, a United States border patrol agent.

Hell is what you make it, within the confines of what demons have made it, which is an entertainment venue where humans experience supernatural events, ominous environments and violent struggle.

H narratives is the mind-altering epic introduction to an afterlife never imagined, a journey like no other and a disturbing truth — death is not what we thought.

Freakish Adventure!

I enjoyed the Hell out of this (so to speak). This was an adventure that could only be had in Hell.
The beginning had wonderful introductions to the characters, or more precisely, their exits. From this world, anyway. This part really got my attention. It made me hyper aware of what could go horribly wrong in even the most mundane of life's situations. Then, for whatever the reason, the characters arrive in Hell.
A small debate on why they are in Hell takes place a few chapters in, and the author covers a few Biblical, and non-Biblical theories on this by way of dialogue between the characters and their demon host/instructor/guy in charge, Sunesis.

Sunesis! He's funny as Hell. Sarcastic, imaginative, and down right mean. He has a job to do and he enjoys every minute of it. Here's where things go from bad to worse for a few of the specially chosen of Hell's new citizens.
Mental torment, physical tragedy (but they're dead, right? So why does it hurt so much?!) crazy rooms, tunnels, caves, mutant creatures, vats of boiling oil (mmmm...tastes like chicken) are set upon these people, three men and three women, just to torment them? Or to prepare them for worse to come..?
By the end of the story I was involved with each of the characters, separately and as a team. Rooting for them to overcome everything Sunesis and Hell itself could throw at them.

I knew this was going to be a series going into it, but I was still a little disappointed when it ended on a cliffhanger. However, this was gory, horrific, humorous and adventurous enough for me to really want to read the next in the series.
