Publisher Description

All chess players know something about the tactical elements of the game; they may not have the skill to create many opportunities to use them and they may overlook the dangers when their opponent employs them but at least they can easily recognise a fork, a skewer and a pin.
However, most low and middle-graded players have much less of an idea when it comes to chess strategy and have great difficulty in assessing a particular position with a view to forming a plan of action.
The aim of this series is to remedy that situation.
In this second book in the series we’re going to examine two different methods which we can use to attack the enemy's king when the right strategic conditions present themselves.
The first method involves a move by move analysis of how to create a winning line of attack through what at first sight seems to be an impenetrable position and the second method explains how to play the Greek Gift sacrifice (and the reasons it sometimes won't work!)
We'll also review the basic ideas associated with sound opening play, since if you emerge from the opening phase of the game having lost space and time it’s an uphill struggle to find a successful middlegame strategy.
