From the New York Times bestselling author of Sweet Ache comes a blistering new novel filled with danger, secrecy, and a desire that can’t be sated…
Foreign war correspondent Tanner Thomas is addicted to living on the edge. Needing the adrenaline rush of his job to help him cope with a personal loss, he throws himself back into the game, concentrating all his energy on getting the next big story. But when he meets his new photojournalist, Beaux Croslyn, he can’t help but feel like he’s losing his focus—and maybe risking more…
With secrets she won’t address, Beaux is far from your ordinary woman. Determined to keep her distance, she’s willing to pull Tanner in closer and hide behind the sparks flying between them. But as Beaux’s past begins to put their relationship—and their lives—at risk, Tanner’s determination to find the truth puts them both in jeopardy.
He's ready to chase her to the ends of the earth to find out if what they had was real, or if the danger surrounding them was just an exquisite heat fated to burn out….
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bromberg expertly captures the voice of a man caught between his tender heart and macho confidence in her standalone seventh romantic thriller in the Driven series (after Sweet Ache). Foreign-war correspondent and alpha male Tanner Thomas is recovering from the death of his photographer partner. He convinces his boss at Worldwide News to send him back to the Middle East, and sparks sizzle when he and sexy freelance photographer Beaux Croslyn meet in the correspondents' hotel bar and hook up for a one-night stand. The next day, they discover that they've been assigned to work together. Adrenaline is an aphrodisiac for them, and more tension explodes from the pages when they're embedded in military missions. But things are not always what they seem with the mysterious Beaux, and seasoned reporter Tanner struggles to distinguish facts from his anxious fears. A surprise ending adds another twist to this gripping journey in a dangerous land.

Down shift
So I have Read and Read to feed my hunger of great books. The driven series was so impactful to me. I haven't found a series to capture me since. I have been so disappointed. I have read so many different authors and have not been moved the way you have moved me so I started read them all again . I am so happy I did. I am almost done with Down Shift again and I want more. I would love to hear your take on all the boys in the house. Thank you for your work.... your work is our escape and for some our truth.
Great read from K. Bromberg!
I'm a very emotional reader. I laugh, I cry, I feel. Going in to Hard Beat, I was nervous. I was scared. I had not even a hint of what was going to happen with the story line. I like that. I like to be surprised. And boy did Tanner and Beaux's story surprise me.
Their first meeting, where Beaux told Tanner "So you're the one, huh?," gave me an immediate flashback to a scene from Top Gun. First time a book has given me a flashback to a movie! I loved it!
With every surprise twist in the book, my emotions were all over the place. At one point, I couldn't turn the page because I was terrified of what was going to happen. I seriously could not turn the page. I sat there staring at it for a good five minutes. I messaged a friend who laughed at me evilly. I finally found the courage to continue. And I was surprised yet again. Hard Beat had me from the begging and never let go. I am a huge fan of K. Bromberg's works. She's an awesome writer and I've loved everything I've read. With Hard Beat, she took her amazing talent to another level. I have to say, it's easily my most favorite of her books to date. If you haven't read anything by her, I urge you to pick up Hard Beat, or any of her other works. You won't be disappointed!
Incredible!!
It's been about 2 weeks since I finished Hard Beat. It literally left me speechless! The emotions you feel when reading this book are so deep and heartfelt. It affected me as if I knew these characters in real life! What I can say is that I loved this book so much! I seriously don't think I breathed during the last half of the book. Kristy's words are incredible and beautiful and heart wrenching! The bubbles!! Oh the bubbles were amazing! I loved Beaux & Tanner's characters. Colton & Tanner's scenes were funny...I love anytime Colton makes an appearance! The proposal was the amazing & beautiful and perfect! It's definitely in my top 5 favorite books. ❤️
