What a fabulously intriguing story of patients and endurance. The heart knows what it wants! Waiting 10 years is extreme, but it needed to be done. Some people hide not only from others, but most damagingly themselves before they find the truth and comfort of love. Booker had his sights set on Laurelie from the get go, but being older he knew he couldn’t act upon the feelings she evoked within him. So telling her they could revisit that issue in 10 years was his way to bide some time, but then he had to convince her! New Year’s Eve 10 years later, he marches into her apartment and takes what he’s wanted all along, HER!!! Unfortunately as usual her mother arrives back into town and throws a cold shower on her good feelings. Booker tries to convince Laurelie that he’s there for her and she can lean on him, but that’s not her. She stands up for herself and leans on no one…. Does Booker finally convince her that it doesn’t matter that their backgrounds (his parents money and her extreme lack of money as well as her low life mothers reputation) are completely opposite, love has no bounds. The heart sees what it wants and goes after it. Or does Laurelie stick with her fears and blow away her chance at happiness? You’ll have to read HARD COMPROMISE to find out. I love the completeness these two seemed to make together throughout the story. This was my first Samanthe Beck story, but I look forward to reading more like this one.
