After the murder of a teenage girl, a mysterious man in a black leather jacket was seen lurking near the crime scene. Investigative reporter Tessa Novak has him in her sights as the culprit…
That man was Julian Darcangelo, an undercover FBI agent working with the Denver police. He’s closing in on the trail of a human trafficker and killer. Tessa’s accusations could blow his cover, and he wants her off the investigation.
But just as Tessa has made Julian a target of interest, she is now a target of the killer. And as they are forced to trust each other, their physical attraction escalates as intensely as the threat from a ruthless murderer who wants to see both of them dead…
Got much better towards the end
I’m glad that human trafficking is being addressed, and I definitely found the chemistry between the protagonists to be phenomenal.
However, the first half of the book had me yelling at Tessa way too many times. How was she supposed to be this incredible reporter and yet not have even suspected sex trafficking as a possibility until it was almost spelled out for her? She really did come off as insanely naive and not very smart- though she did redeem her intelligence by the end.
Speaking of not so smart, I can understand unprotected sex once. But multiple times? Head smack.
There were also a few glaring typos.
They switched books-- don't buy!
The people at apple made a mistake. They switched the Pamela Clare "Hard Evidence" with another book by the same name but with a different author. And don't bother trying to buy the other guy's book to get the Clare version- that book is correctly listed. Very disappointing!! :(
