Playing it safe has never felt so dangerous…
Justice Wallington knows how to harness his strength and intimidating size—skills he put to good use first in the MMA cage and now as a bodyguard at the Body Armor agency. But no opponent has ever left him feeling as off balance as his new client, heiress Fallon Wade. Far from a spoiled princess, she's sweet and intriguingly innocent. It's a risk-free assignment, until he's required to fake a relationship with her in order to blend in.
Sheltered from the world after a family tragedy, Fallon longs to experience life—going to bars, dancing, talking to strangers. Not easy with a huge, lethal-looking bodyguard shadowing her every move. Justice seems like her polar opposite, but pretending to be a couple stirs undeniable heat. And when danger strikes again, it's not just her safety in jeopardy, but a passion that's real, raw and absolutely against the rules…
Everything that made Under Pressure such a winner is missing from Foster's second Body Armor romantic thriller, in which a tensionless plot is built upon an improbable premise. Former MMA fighter Justice Wallington accepts an assignment as personal bodyguard for 24-year-old Fallon Wade. Fallon's controlling, overprotective father has kept her under constant guard for only the last five years, but the extent of her na vet implies she lived on another planet for the first 19. She has no friends, few life experiences, and no depth. What suspense there is ensues as Fallon's ex and some duplicitous associates from Justice's former life threaten their blossoming romance and their lives. Forgettable characters caught in an unremarkable story make this a rare lapse in Foster's otherwise superlative oeuvre.
A great read!!
This was a really good read!! Fallon is a sweet heroine, who's been a bit sheltered due to her parents wealth, and a tragic accident as a teenager. Seeing her find herself, and her confidence growing, was awesome to read about. Justice is sexy, protective, and Fallon brings a sweet side out in him. I loved the banter between Justice and his friends, it's almost a brotherhood. Add in the perfect amount of mystery/suspense, and you've got a great read.
I would definitely recommend this, and I can't wait to see who the author has lined up for the next book!!
Deep and enjoyable
I don't usually leave reviews, even when I 100% love a book... but I had read the above review by Publisher Weekly prior to buying the book and had to just come back on here to absolutely laugh at the remarks posted. That review is almost like they hadn't read the whole book, were not familiar with Lori Foster's style of "cut away" type storytelling (I'm not a writer, so I don't know the technical terms), and obviously not a fan of the genre (or maybe just MMA). Anyway, every "new" character was deeply established. All of the "old" characters were placed in the story in such a way as to add to the depth and backstory of the book. The main characters were extremely engaging and well rounded - and sexy!!. To tell the truth, I actually think this one is better than Under Pressure. Anyway, I just wanted to give a big "phoo phoo" to that Publisher Weekly review! If you like Lori Foster, you'll certainly enjoy this story!!
Another knock out from Ms. Foster. The chemistry with Justice and Fallon was instant in the book and just jump off each page. The best part of the characters is their honesty with each other. Another amazing story about a fighter coming into his own outside the ring. Must read
