Hard Rains

When Mehula begins to see a stranger invade her privacy, it sets off a chain of events that brings her estranged husband Sanjay back into her life. But gradually matters spiral out of control as she starts losing her perspective. Their teenage daughter Sona refuses to get bogged down by the turn of events and unwittingly inspires her father to re-evaluate their lives and look forward to the future with renewed hope.  

Meanwhile, living in the same city, Mehula’s childhood friend Priya is fighting her own demons. Repeatedly raped by her music teacher when she was a teenager, Priya tries to draw solace in her job as a sports instructor at a reputed school in Mumbai. But a visit to her childhood city Kolkata on a professional assignment forces her to confront her violent past in a manner that pushes her once again into a deep abyss – but deliverance comes from the most unexpected quarter.  

Set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing society, Hard Rains examines issues of companionship, disenchantment, retribution, reconciliation and loss – making it both universal and topical.
