Publisher Description
Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.
Edward "Easy" Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loves—which is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight. He may have just met her, but Jenna's the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago.
Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can't describe how he makes her feel—and not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her stretch far beyond gratitude.
When the pair is thrust together and chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: The things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.

This series keeps getting better and better!
4.5 stars!!
Laura Kaye does it again! This series keeps getting better and each story peels off another layer that leads to more questions and more intrigue. I must say if you have not read the first two books in this series (Hard as It Gets and Hard as You Can) this novella may be a bit confusing for you and I recommend reading this series in order since the stories all play off one another and the books are all connected by the common purpose of this series; to redeem their honor.
Hard to Hold On To is a novella that takes a bit of a turn in this series. We aren't following the men going after the Church gang or getting embroiled in another mission, in this novella we get something different. Laura Kaye slows the pace down for a bit and shows us a few days when everyone is under one roof and recuperating. Hard to Hold On To picks up right after Jenna is rescued in Hard as You Can and tells a beautiful story about a girl who has to recover from this terrifying ordeal and finds safety with Easy, a man who fights everyday to survive with tortured feelings from his past.
Hard to Hold On To was a beautiful novella. I teared up, sighed and cheered my way through these pages. Easy has always been one of the characters from this series that I wanted to get more of and Laura Kaye does a wonderful job of showing us Easy's struggle. Reading about Easy was hard, gut-wrenching and devastating to read, but just when you think he has given up, Jenna changes everything. Jenna needs Easy and it is that "need" that gives this story wings! Rarely in a series as fast paced, action filled as the Hard Ink series do you get to slow down and really watch two people connect with no distractions and THIS is exactly the gift that Hard to Hold On To is. Jenna and Easy on the edge of falling. I loved every page! The emotion, the need, the tension just poured from the page and once again reminded me why Laura Kaye with always be an "instant buy Author" for me!
If you have been a fan of the Hard Ink series you are going LOVE Easy and Jenna's story! You get to have the drama slow down long enough to really focus on these two amazing characters and get a bit of a tease about what is coming next in this series. If you have never read a Laura Kaye book or a Hard Ink series book, I highly recommend you 1-click these books and start reading about these amazing men who are fighting to clear their names and the strong women they meet along the way.
I believe!
Emotionally charged story
Easy is one of the few that survived a roadside attack in Afghanistan. Jenna was kidnapped by her sisters boyfriend and Easy and the group rescued her. As he helps Jenna recover he also comes to terms with his own illness. Suicidal. He tells his friends and they will do anything to help him get better. The best to him is Jenna still wants him and he'd do anything to earn her love.
This was a short but powerful story. I connected with Easy because I have had those same thoughts and feelings. Getting help is the first step.
