He Knew He Was Right

Anthony Trollope was an English writer, one of the most prolific and successful novelists of the Victorian Era. He wrote a series of novels that chronicle the everyday life of middle-class Victorians and was noted as the skilful master of psychological characterization and satire.


“He Knew He Was Right” is the novel, first published in 1869. The story revolves around the mid-Victorian gentlemen and his wife, who seemed fortunate, rich and successful, but whose marriage crumbles caused by the unreasonable jealousy of the husband exacerbated by the stubbornness of the wilful wife. Together with other Trollope’s novels, “He Knew He Was Right” includes the insightful social issues. Trollope was one of the writers ahead of his time, who discussed the themes of the failure of marriage, women’s rights and gender roles.
