Publisher Description

Confirming what was probably an inevitable outcome, The Hearst Corp. on Friday said that it was putting its Seattle Post-Intelligencer and its 40 percent stake in the joint operating agreement with the Seattle Times up for sale and that if a buyer is not found in 60 days, that it would either shutter the paper or "with a greatly reduced staff," attempt a digital-only operation. It was the second JOA paper to be put up for sale in five weeks; on Dec. 4, The E.W. Scripps Co. said that it was seeking a buyer for its Rocky Mountain News, as well as the company's stake in the Denver Newspaper Agency.
