A recent study shows the incidence of heart disease in people with 40 years of age and younger is on the rise. It is important to learn about heart disease, to help prevent it and to live a healthier, more active life by learning about your disease and treatments, and by becoming an active participant in your care. A Heart Attack, or myocardial infarction (MI), is permanent damage to the heart muscle. "Myo" means muscle, "cardial" refers to the heart, and "infarction" means death of tissue due to lack of blood supply.
