Heart Clinic is poet Crysta Casey's book about starting over, following her honorable discharge from the Marines, both as a writer and a young woman who has rocked herself, comforted herself from her demons since childhood. Heart Clinic is about memory and, as the poet's marriage frays, an evolving self reliance. Crysta would go on to write Rules for Walking Out, which tells the fuller story of her life in the Marine Corps and the community of veterans, with whom she lived and with whom she found solidarity. But Heart Clinic is an earlier and very intimate glimpse. The Estate of Crysta E. Casey is pleased to republish Crysta's long out-of-print debut in a special online edition.
