Long before she was the terror of Wonderland—the infamous Queen of Hearts—she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland, she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love. Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen.

Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

In her first stand-alone teen novel, the New York Times-bestselling author dazzles us with a prequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

My heart is in pieces

Please tell me I’m not foolish to still have hope of a happier (and not too impossible) ending? My heart is literally in pain after the final few chapters...

romance reader :) ,

I getting bad vibes from this book...

Not like, the book is gonna be terrible but like, something’s gonna happen. Something not good. And trust me, I haven’t read any of the reviews bc most of y’all like to SPOIL THINGS. But yea idk it’s just, somethings gonna happen. It’s logic too, bc apparently this is a story abt how the Queen of Hearts is all: “OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!”. Ya know? So yea I’m reading this book with caution. I have had a few experiences with unhappy endings. And also I put five stars bc I’m halfway through the book and it’s interesting enough. So let’s hope it stays that way :)

Okay, I picked up the book at the store, and was like 'Oh, this looks cool.' I got through most of the story before realizing this was about the QUEEN OF HEARTS!!! It's very sad, so make sure you don't mistake this for a happy book about rainbows and true love. THIS BOOK DOES NOT BELIEVE IN FAIRY TALE ENDINGS.
