A spell that tore three sisters apart is broken four hundred years later, when the magic in their blood reunites them. Now, one of them will discover her gift-and reignite a love long thought lost...
Flame-haired Becca Carstairs was born to be a veterinarian. Since childhood, her affinity for animals has been special, and her healing touch nothing short of magic. But only Becca knows the truth-that she alone can hear the creatures' voices. She's always trusted her sixth sense...until a string of missing pets, an attempted murder, and a face from her past converge into one explosive mystery, with her at its center. Is haunted Owen McAllister, the boy who broke her heart ten years ago, related to the sinister crimes that have peaceful Three Harbors, Wisconsin, on its guard? Or is his reappearance part of the answer to questions that have troubled her all her life? As Becca delves into her strange heritage, she'll have to fight for her life...and the man she will always love.
In the second book of this spellbinding new series, New York Times bestselling author Lori Handeland delivers breath-taking danger, desire, and the dark heart of magic.
Handeland's second Sisters of the Craft paranormal romance (after In the Air Tonight) is engrossing but not as hard-edged as some of her earlier books. When veterinarian Becca Carstairs hears telepathic messages from animals, she thinks she's going crazy. She's also trying hard not to fall for Owen McAlister, a wounded military veteran who's recovering in their tiny town of Three Harbors, Wisc., with the help of his canine partner, Reggie. Their intense connection ignites as they investigate gruesome acts of animal mutilation and a mysterious attempt on Becca's life, which was thwarted by a helpful wolf named Prudence. Characters from Handeland's Nightcreature series provide long-arc context on the involvement of the evil Venatores Mali, but their numbers mostly add noise. Animal companions such as Prudence, Reggie, and Grenade the kitten delight without cloying; less successful is an abrupt late shift in how Becca's views her relationship with her parents.

Great mystery with a beautiful second chance romance!!!
And the mystery continues...
Three Harbors was home to veterinarian Becca Carstairs. With all the craziness going on around town about animal sacrifices and witches and such, there was a beautiful second chance romance going on. Owen is back from Afghanistan with his MWD Reggie and the attraction to Becca is still strong as ever. Could Becca really hear the thoughts of animals? Of Reggie? She thought it was always in her head but maybe it was always a part of who she really was. Also, who was the woman that looked exactly like Becca except with black hair instead of red?
This is the second book in the trilogy, Sisters of the Craft. Bravo Lori Handeland! Another amazing story in an equally amazing series. There are many different elements to this story but they're put together so well, it's easy to follow along. I am so curious as to what the third sister will be like. And the search continues...
