Publisher Description
So often, our view of the good life is the busy, exhausted, driven, and unhappy life. But what if there was a different way to live--now, not when we get to heaven, but now?
A short list of “blessings” called the Beatitudes is Jesus’ declaration of what “the good life” is, and an invitation to immerse ourselves in it.
If we understand the Beatitudes, we realize they are less about what we do and more about what God is doing--what God values, how he operates, and what’s he’s up to in our (actually his) world.
Authors Seidman and Graves offer a practical guide to changing our course to realize the good life now.

Intro to a new (but old) eschatology
Graves and Seidman hit the nail on the head with their musings on the beatitudes. The church's focus on the afterlife, where salvation is purely postmortem, has blinded us from recognizing the core of our faith; restoration and reconcilliation. Shalom.
The gospel is good news indeed of a new world breaking in in the midst of the old, and the beatitudes are a manifesto for the Jesus revolution of enemy love, reconciliation, forgiveness, and liberation. I'm so thankful that many ministers in the church of Christ, and in other corners of Protestantism/Evangelicalism are taking a step of faith and telling a new (old) story to a church that can be resistant to ideas that call them to change.
This is a great book for those who are just dipping their toes in the water of a faith that believes that Gods reign is breaking in now, not just at the end. A great book for small group discussion.
Amazing
I only read the first few pages already I'm thinking this is a great book!
