Helsinki Finland
Pink Skateboard, ENG
Publisher Description
This book is meant for those interested in discovering Helsinki on foot. We decided to walk along a route that would take us past some of our city’s most interesting sites, shops and spots, places where we would, for example, take a friend who had never visited Helsinki before. We chose a route that starts in the Punavuori neighborhood and heads towards Esplanadi Park before continuing to Senate Square and Aleksanterinkatu. Our day out was certainly a memorable one!

This is a great idea for a book. Walking around a city is a great way to get to know it, and the authors have pointed out many great highlights of their neighborhood near the center of Helsinki. I have been able to enjoy the area by strolling around and stopping based on their suggestions for cafes, parks, and shops.
You may wish to map out the route ahead of time if you are not familiar with the area, and if you are visiting from outside of Finland you may notice that in the summer Finns occasionally take weekend holidays and much of Helsinki closes. So plan ahead, find a schedule of holidays, and make appointments for professionals such as barbers or other shops that may require them.
This book has wonderful design and outstanding photography, and it is visually interesting and fun to read. You will enjoy your tour of the city, and perhaps the book will make you wish that Johanna and Elina could be your personal guides!
