In a world of secrets, can Esme find the courage to be her true self?
Happily in love, Esme Colborne is about to marry Richard Trevannion, descendant of one of the oldest families in England. But when Esme learns she is adopted – from a working class family – she cannot allow Richard to marry so far beneath his station.
Fleeing the life she knew, a chance encounter leads Esme to work as a ‘decoy woman’, testing British undercover operatives who may otherwise reveal secrets in a moment of weakness. As dangerous as it is thrilling, she is soon captivated by this world of subterfuge – one wrong move, however, and Esme could lose everything.
With her feelings for Richard as strong as ever, should she go back to him and reveal the truth of her birth? Is she brave enough to risk having her heart broken again?
An enthralling Second World War saga for fans of Rosie Archer and Annie Murray.

Surprised
I'm not sure how I acquired this book. I'm guessing it might have been free at some point. Bored with reading other things online I decided to open up Books. This title just happened to be listed near the top. I said "what the heck", and decided to start reading it, and I kept on reading it. I wasn't expecting to get into it as much as I did. I don't read stuff like this. The content was believable, the characters not over the top, decent dialog, with a bit of embellished real life history. It was a good quick read. I'm actually going to get the rest of the series, and I'm debating the other series by the same author. Well done.
Good Read
Well written, with interesting characters. Ending felt a little underwhelming.
Excellent writing and story
I am not a WWII story lover but the writing in this would make an English teacher proud. Very interesting story and great writing. Would read more of this author.
