High Tunnel Crop Production Handbook High Tunnel Crop Production Handbook

High Tunnel Crop Production Handbook

Publisher Description

High tunnel crop production allows you to extend the growing season and create a more controlled growing environment that can exclude pests.  But because of their unique environment, high tunnels will often require different cultural practices than are required for the same crops grown in the field.

In this book, we’ll describe the costs and construction materials needed; explain special requirements for irrigation, soil fertility and management; and help you implement integrated pest management of insects, diseases, and weeds through crop-specific cultural practices.

And, we’ll offer ongoing organic crop production and pest management systems to assure a profitable and productive growing environment.

This handbook is just one part of an overall education program offered by Alabama Extension’s Commercial Horticulture Team.  And for those special questions that reach beyond this book, we’ll help you connect to the deeper information resources of Alabama Extension.
