“You don’t have to fool me into thinking this is anything more than it is.”
Well she did it. Somehow Nicole made me like Settimo, when I really didn’t think I ever would. When I read His Pet, which I adored, I disliked his older brother, Settimo. Even by the end when he wasn’t as distasteful, I still didn’t give a crap about him. I like baby brother Anthony and I am totally in love with Lorenzo (bbf forever!). But Settimo was a jerk. I was actually disappointed he was going to be in the next book although based on the blurb at the end I was a little intrigued. All I can say is, what a difference 245 pages can make. He ended up being nothing like I thought he would and I really wanted him and Alex to somehow find their HEA.
So, why did I only give it four stars? I’ll explain. While the story was great, the characters fantastic, the bedroom scenes hot and there was lots of emotion, one thing that really bothered me enough to lessen my enjoyment was how back and forth Settimo was about Alex. He literally gave me whiplash the way he kept changing his opinions and his mind. I understand some indecisiveness, but he took it to the extreme. I actually began to get annoyed with him to the point I almost considered quitting reading. I mean, I couldn’t really. I had to find out what happened, but it was still very annoying.
I loved getting to see my lovely Lorenzo. Every time he was in a scene he made me smile. When Alex was nervous around him I wanted to reassure her he’s tough outside but inside he’s wonderful. I hope the next book includes his and Kitty’s wedding. He will always be my favorite.
The preview of the next book, His Puppet, Blade’s story is next and based on the blurb for book five I doubt it will be Anthony’s. I certainly hope Nicole doesn’t forget to eventually give us his as I think he’s adorable and can’t wait. I love this series and highly recommend it to everyone.
Great Read
This is the third book in the Series. I am really enjoying this series . This is Settimo and Alex story . Settimo is the Don . Alex father works for Bratva and has promised her to marry Paolo . Both Paolo and Alex don’t want to marry each other. When Settimo and Alex meet they have a connection. I really enjoyed the character development in the story. The story was captivating and beautifully written which keeps you hooked with suspense, intrigue, twists and steamy moments.
Page Turner
This was an amazing mafia romance. This is a page turner from start to finish, I was hooked from beginning to the end. I absolutely love the characters. Alex and Settimo’s chemistry is explosive. Looking forward to reading more from the author. Highly recommend reading this.
