In the explosive debut of Stacey Lynn’s irresistible Fireside series, a pair of estranged lovers are reunited by dangerous loyalties—and intoxicating desire.
Tyson Blackwell never saw it coming when his Mafia princess girlfriend dumped him and disappeared at the age of eighteen. He never forgot her, either, even after what happened next: the killing of his father, a Detroit PD officer, at the hands of one of her father’s men. Tyson swore revenge, and now, ten years later, the kid who dreamed of a pro football career is a hard-nosed FBI agent, back in town to take down the Galecki crime family once and for all. But Tyson’s mission gets complicated fast—because going undercover means seducing the only woman he’s ever loved.
Gabriella “Blue” Galecki has been in hiding for a decade. She finally comes home to spend time with her terminally ill mother, only to receive a blast from the past when she runs into Tyson. His brooding eyes and electrifying touch still send chills down her spine. But as heir to the family empire, Blue has been promised to another. Caught in a web of deception, she is tempted to pull the trigger on the boldest risk she’s ever taken: trusting Tyson with her life, her body, and her heart.

Mafia princess meets FBI...
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
Stacey Lynn is a new author for me, so I didn't know exactly what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed Blue and Tyson's story and can't wait to read Chelsea's! This novel is in the Fireside series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I have not read any of her other novels and did not feel as though I missed any "back story".
Blue is the furthest thing from what I envisioned as a Mafia princess/heir and I loved her character for that. She was strong, sassy, and wanted to make it on her own--not use her name to get special favors. Tyson, her high school boyfriend, comes into her life again unexpectedly. He's working a case that has the possibility of destroying their second chance at love.
So as not to spoil the story, I'll just say this story has a HEA! It has suspense, funny moments, moments where I cried all rolled into one story. While I truly enjoyed this novel, I thought it was a little slow in the middle. I wanted the action to happen so Blue could have her HEA. I do recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys second chance love stories.
The twist of the story brings love towards conclusions that are unpredictable. Great read and I will definitely read His to Protect
When Tyson Blackwell is told by his boss, senior agent of the FBI Underground Crime Protection Unit to get close to Gabriella Galecki, he is reluctant. He has a past with her. She is the only women he loved and he doesn’t know if he can keep this job professional as opposed to personal. When Gabriella decided to return home to visit her dying mother, the last thing she expected was to run into Tyson. Even though she loved him, 10 years ago she just suddenly disappeared from his life. The dialogue flowed easily so it was a quick read. Story line was well written and did not drag. Tyson was confident, sure of himself without being arrogant or cocky. Gabriella, however, seemed torn. I think she wanted to be this strong independent woman but when she got around her father, she became very passive. You could feel the emotions between these two. The love Tyson had for Gabriella and her feelings of betrayal when she finds out he was FBI. I would have liked to hear more about things from Tyson’s POV. Other than the beginning you only get things from Gabriell’s POV. The only issue I had was there were many typos. I am usually tolerant of them but when I find myself having to read sentences over again, then it becomes distracting. I like how in the end the author gives you a look into what the next story might be. I look forward to stories of the other characters (Delan, Aiden, Chelsea). While there are sex scenes, they are not overly descriptive or drawn out so I would consider it a fairly clean book. It has no cliffhanger.
